About

Leah Morrison

I am a Certified Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapist, a Birth Doula, a Certified Breastfeeding Counselor, and a Licensed Massage Therapist. Through many years of movement practice and study, including dancing and teaching with the Trisha Brown Dance Company for 10 years and studying Alexander technique, Body-Mind Centering, and meditation, I developed a nuanced understanding of the body which paved my path to becoming a healing professional. I began studying Craniosacral Therapy in 2011 and then went on to complete a Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy certification with Franklyn Sills from 2012 to 2014.  My bodywork practice focuses solely on Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy (BCST), as I believe the effects are more profound and longer lasting than massage. What I most appreciate about BCST, is the balanced approach which addresses both the physical and the emotional aspects of pain and suffering. Through this work, I have seen my clients come out of the fog and move forward with a newfound sense of clarity and ease in body and mind.

I specialize in working with people with chronic pain or other chronic health conditions as well as those dealing with anxiety, depression, and physical or emotional trauma. I also see children and infants who have had a tricky birth and need some help to feel more comfortable and at ease in the world. My work with children has a grounding and calming effect not only for the child, but for the entire family as well.

Through my work in BCST, I became fascinated by birth and the profound role of compassionate support for mother and baby during labor. This ignited a spark in me to become a doula to do all I can to enable birth to live up to its potential to be an empowering, life-affirming event. I trained with Birth Arts International in 2016 and DONA International in 2017 and have been happy to offer my doula support to families all over NYC since then! It gives me great joy to combine my two practices by offering BCST to my pregnant clients as well as to babies and parents after the birth.

Both as a Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapist and as a birth doula, I am devoted to helping my clients find pathways out of pain while also developing a healthy and resilient relationship to pain and difficulties in life. I believe that the deepest potential for healing lies in discovering that we have options in how we respond to our pain and suffering.
